Katie and her traditional Bahrain attire.

Sneeky little girl in Jacobs crib.  We found her there with all of her toys.
The most amazing pottery... I will have to return many times.  Only thing is it is in a "black flag" area.

Some of the one of a kind treasures.

We love riding in the car...

And on that farm they had a camel...

We finally decided to venture out and find some camels.  We have been in Bahrain for over three months and have not seen any yet.  Since it was our first drive outside of our comfort zone, we decided to go somewhere that would be easy to find.  Many roads are not clearly marked and most people go by landmarks.  Instead of names, streets are numbered and very confusing.  Good thing for us the camel farm is right off the road and hard to miss.

There must have been hundreds of camels.  Some in the massive cages built for them and others just out in the open with their legs tied together (to keep them from running, I guess).  Katie thought they were so cool but very stinky.  She and Jacob got to get up close and pet one.  We were led into a cage with three newborns and their mommies.  They were so cute, but we did not get to ride on any of them.  We were told that they used to allow rides, but the Prince of Bahrain got upset when he found out they were charging everyone, so he put a stop to it.  Maybe next time...

Day 111... so many more to go...

The weather outside is just beautiful.  What a difference from the sweltering heat we felt the night we got off the plane.  It has felt so much like Hawaii lately.  Cooler winds and much less humidity.  We have been outside a lot more.  We love our house and have settled in nicely.  I have met some wonderful friends and have been able to go to various coffees, and even played bunco.  Staying at home is getting better.  I have struggled with missing work and trying to settle in and find a good routine for us all.

Katie is loving school.  We had our first parent teacher conference last week.  Her teacher, Ms. Tricia says Katie is fitting in well and is always involved.  She loves being the helper and has made good friends. She sings all the time, probably because she goes to music/drama twice a week.  Her favorite day of the week is Tuesday, because it is the day her class goes to the library and checks out books.  She is just like most other three year olds; she is learning to use her words in order to better solve conflicts.   We have noticed that she is recognizing so many letters and numbers and can associate them with meaning. It is wonderful to see her growing and learning.  Jacob goes to the base daycare once a week and loves it too.  The ladies there love him.  He even sleeps on a cot there.  He is such a big boy.  His new favorite words are 'Daddy' and 'wow'.  He is also a climber.  We have to keep one eye on him always.  He loves to get on the coffee table, couch, and has started climbing the stairs.  He is our little monkey man.

Enjoy the pictures...

Trick or Treat

This year Katie decided she wanted to be a pink fairy.  So, pink fairy it was.  Jacob thought he would just be casual and go with a traditional orange pumpkin jumper.

The Bahrain School (department of defense school) hosted their annual Spooktacular event with trick or treating, games, food and a not so scary haunted house.  Katie really loved seeing everyone in their costumes, even the scary ones.  Jacob loved the bouncy houses.

On Halloween the Nadeen School had a craft fair and each class paraded through the courtyard.  We bought a few hand made clay jack-o-lanterns.

Our neighborhood also gave out candy.  Katie and her friend Maggie had a blast running door to door.  She got a ton of candy.  Thank goodness for her children's Sonicare...  :}
